Kenya Simbas fall to Limpopo Blue Bulls in final South Africa outing

Kenya Simbas wrapped up their South African tour with a hard-fought 42-35 loss to Limpopo Blue Bulls on Thursday, 26th June 2025, in their final warm-up match ahead of the Rugby Africa Cup. Fielding a rotated squad, the Simbas impressed in the first half but were edged out in a high-scoring second-half contest at Nylstroom Rugby Club.

Kenya Simbas closed out their South African tour with a spirited display but ultimately fell short, losing 42-35 to Limpopo Blue Bulls on Thursday, 26th June 2025, at the Nylstroom Rugby Club. The match marked their final tune-up fixture before the Rugby Africa Cup kicks off in Uganda this July.

With the squad that edged Supa Barbarians 27-24 earlier in the week given a rest, head coach Jerome Paarwater opted for a rotated line-up to wrap up the month-long high-altitude training camp.

The Simbas burst into action with Brian Juma powering over for the opening try, which was duly converted to make it 7-0. Limpopo responded in kind with a driving maul that leveled the scores. Kenya then reclaimed the advantage through Samuel Ovwamu, who scored under the posts for another converted try.

The match continued at a blistering pace. The hosts again drew level with a converted effort, but Kenya pushed ahead thanks to John Okoth, who finished off a flowing move initiated by Bryceson Adaka. Fly-half Brian Wahinya added the extras before Elkeans Musonye crossed over to stretch the Simbas' lead to 28-14 heading into halftime.

Despite the commanding first-half performance, the Simbas couldn't hold off a resurgent Limpopo side after the break, conceding four second-half tries. A late Kenyan try kept the scores tight, but it wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit.
