Samsung rolls out android 15 updates to select galaxy devices, leaving out older models

Older devices, particularly those with outdated processors, insufficient RAM, or limited hardware capabilities, may not be able to handle the new features or improvements introduced by Android 15.

Samsung has officially begun rolling out the highly anticipated Android 15 update to several of its Galaxy devices, offering users a host of new features, security improvements, and performance enhancements.

The One UI 7 (based on Android 15) update will be available across selected devices starting with the Galaxy S24 series, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, in its home region of South Korea from April 7.

However, not all models will be receiving this update, leaving some users wondering why certain devices were excluded from the upgrade.

The following Samsung Galaxy devices are among the first to receive the Android 15 update:

-Samsung Galaxy S23 Series (S23, S23+, S23 Ultra).

-Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

-Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

-Samsung Galaxy S22 Series (S22, S22+, S22 Ultra).

-Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

-Samsung Galaxy A54 (and other select A from A26 series models)

The official release timeline includes Galaxy devices like the S23 series and Tab S10 in April, with updates for more devices through June.

While these devices are getting the Android 15 update, several older models, especially those from the Galaxy A and Galaxy J series, will not be receiving it.

This is primarily due to hardware limitations and Samsung’s update policy, which typically supports devices for up to four years of major Android updates.

Older devices, particularly those with outdated processors, insufficient RAM, or limited hardware capabilities, may not be able to handle the new features or improvements introduced by Android 15.

Samsung's focus on providing a smooth and stable user experience means that devices unable to support the latest software will be left out.

For those lucky enough to receive the update, Android 15 brings exciting new features, such as an improved user interface, enhanced security measures, and more personalised customisation options.

These updates aim to boost performance and enhance the overall user experience, especially for power users who demand the latest features.

While the older phones will continue to function on their current software, they will eventually miss out on new features, security patches, and performance enhancements that come with Android 15.

Samsung continues to support its devices with regular security patches, even for models that do not receive major Android version updates.
