Self-confessed Moi's Bridge serial killer, Evans Wanjala, to be sentenced for murder of five children

Justice Reuben Nyakundi found Wanjala guilty of the heinous act and ordered that he be returned to Eldoret GK Remand Prison until the day of sentencing.

Evans Juma Wanjala, who confessed to the killing of five minors in Moi’s Bridge, Uasin Gishu County, will be sentenced on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the Eldoret High Court.

His conviction brings to a close a disturbing case that exposed the horrific abuse and murder of young girls aged between 10 and 15 years.

Justice Reuben Nyakundi found Wanjala guilty of the heinous act and ordered that he be returned to Eldoret GK Remand Prison until the day of sentencing.

Wanjala had made shocking confessions to detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Nairobi.

He gave a blow-by-blow account of how he defiled before strangling to death one of the victims.

The statement from the DCI, which was presented in court during the hearing sessions, depicted how brutally he terminated the lives of the five minors.

In his ruling, Justice Nyakundi found Wanjala guilty of defiling and strangling to death one of his victims, Stacy Nabiso, 10, six years ago.

The Judge relied on a medical report and other evidence produced in court by forensic experts who were among the key witnesses in the murder trial.

The court heard that DNA analysis showed that samples collected from the minor’s t-shirt and underwear matched with those taken from Wanjala.

During the trial, Wanjala had made an application to enter into a plea bargain with the family of the victim, but they turned down the request.

Sharon Sakwa, the mother of the deceased, termed the application by Wanjala a mockery of her family, bearing in mind that her only daughter was subjected to a painful and horrifying death.

“That application was a mockery of my family. My only daughter went through pain and horror,” she said.

The court also heard that Wanjala has three other pending charges related to sexual offences in Makindu, where arrest warrants had been issued.
