The Ministry of Defence confirmed that Dudumale, Bulo-Kajor, Abagbeday, and Elgaras villages in Hudur town are now under the control of Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers, marking the second phase of the government's campaign against Al-Shabaab extremists.
In a statement issued in Mogadishu, the Ministry stated that the SNA "has taken control of villages previously under the Khawarij (Al-Shabaab) influence. This marks the beginning of the second phase and represents a crucial step in restoring safety to our communities."
The ministry further reported that government forces have successfully restored peace and security to the liberated villages, where the militants had previously been causing fear and harm to local residents.
The SNA, alongside its allied forces, is actively engaged in joint military operations aimed at countering the Al-Shabaab militant group. This comes after the completion of the first phase, which resulted in the liberation of significant territory in central and southern Somalia that had been under the control of Al-Shabaab.
