KeNHA announces 3-day closure of Kipande Road for culvert installation

By |

KeNHA urged motorists to exercise caution around the work zones and adhere to the traffic management plans in place.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a partial closure of Kipande Road in Nairobi for three days, starting Friday, December 27, 2024, through Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

The closure, according to the authority, is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements, specifically to facilitate the installation of a cross culvert on the road.

In a notice to the public, KeNHA explained that the closure would take place on a single-bound lane at a time, with traffic being diverted to Ngara Road.

"This closure will enable the installation of the cross culvert at Kipande Road to facilitate a seamless connection in line with the Authority's mandate," Kenha said.

During the closure, all traffic will be diverted through alternative routes, including the Embu-Nairobi Highway, Prof. Wangari Maathai Road, Kipande Road, Limuru Road, and Kolobot Road.

KeNHA urged motorists to exercise caution around the work zones and adhere to the traffic management plans in place.

This announcement follows a similar traffic disruption on the Southern Bypass, where KeNHA closed a section of the road for two weeks, beginning December 24, 2024.

The closure of the Southern Bypass is intended to allow for the rehabilitation of the expansion joints on the bridges and the reconstruction of the concrete pavement of the Virtual Weighbridge.

Motorists using both Kipande Road and the Southern Bypass have been advised to plan accordingly for the potential delays caused by these essential roadworks, which aim to improve traffic flow and overall infrastructure in Nairobi.
