The Côte d'Ivoire national team emerged triumphant against Guinea-Bissau in their opening match of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON2023).
The hosts secured a 2-0 victory, thanks to goals from Seko Fofana and Jean-Philippe Krasso.

The excitement kicked off early in the game when Seko Fofana found the back of the net in the fourth minute, scoring the first goal of the 34th edition of the African Cup of Nations.
Fofana's impressive strike not only set the stage ablaze but also marked the fastest goal in an AFCON opening match since Solomon Sheferahu's goal for Ethiopia against Uganda on February 29, 1976, in the 2nd minute.
Despite Guinea-Bissau's defensive efforts to stay alive in the game, Jean-Philippe Krasso ensured Cote d'Ivoire's dominance with a goal in the 58th minute.
After the game, Cote d'Ivoire's Franck Kessié expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, acknowledging the challenging opposition posed by Guinea-Bissau.
Kessié dedicated the victory to the Ivorian people, stating, "We gave our people something to cheer about. This win is for you, Ivorians."
Seko Fofana, who gave an outstanding performance, was named the man of the match.
