Saturday’s Kenyan Premier League fixtures saw Tusker FC reclaim the top spot after a narrow win over Ulinzi Stars, Posta Rangers climb out of the relegation zone with a victory against FC Talanta, and AFC Leopards settle for a draw with Murang’a Seal.
Saturday served up thrilling Kenyan Premier League action as Dandora and Machakos stadiums hosted decisive encounters. Tusker FC took on Ulinzi Stars at Dandora Stadium, while AFC Leopards faced Murang’a Seal. In Machakos, Posta Rangers battled FC Talanta in a clash with relegation implications.
Ulinzi Stars vs Tusker FC
Tusker FC reclaimed the top spot in the league standings with a 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars, who came into the game on a three-match winning streak.
The first half ended goalless despite several attempts from Ulinzi’s Boniface Muchiri, whose efforts repeatedly troubled Tusker’s defence. On the other side, Ryan Ogam led Tusker’s attack but found no way past Ulinzi goalkeeper Brian Opondo, who made critical saves, including tipping a free kick from George Kaddu onto the crossbar.
The second half saw both teams make tactical changes. Tusker substituted Mainge and Oguta with Balecho and Njuguna, while Ulinzi brought on Odhiambo and Chrispine Erambo to boost their attack.
Tusker finally broke the deadlock when Erambo connected with a corner delivered by Decha to score the decisive goal, earning the Brewers three vital points and reinstating their position atop the table.
Posta Rangers vs FC Talanta
In Machakos, Posta Rangers claimed a crucial 2-1 win over FC Talanta, lifting themselves out of the relegation zone.
Eliud Lokuwam gave Rangers the lead 30 minutes into the match, followed by a second goal from Felix Oluoch that provided a cushion. Although FC Talanta pulled one back late in the second half, they could not find an equaliser. The win moved Posta Rangers to 15th place, displacing Talanta and escaping the bottom three.
AFC Leopards vs Murang’a Seal
AFC Leopards and Murang’a Seal battled to a 1-1 draw in a tightly contested encounter at Dandora Stadium.
Murang’a Seal took an early lead, but Leopards equalised before halftime to level the score at 1-1. Despite both teams pushing for a winner in the second half, neither side managed to capitalise on their opportunities. The result kept Leopards in fifth place with 26 points, while Seal remained 12th with 23 points.
