The fourth edition of the Sirikwa Classic Cross Country is set for 22nd February 2025 at Lobo Village in Eldoret, promising a high-stakes showdown featuring top Kenyan and international athletes. Two-time world cross-country champion Beatrice Chebet and 10km world record holder Agnes Ng’etich are among the stars confirmed for the prestigious event. Athletics Kenya president Jackson Tuwei has urged fans to turn up in large numbers to witness elite competition on home soil.

The fourth edition of the Sirikwa Classic Cross Country will take place on 22nd February 2025 at Lobo Village, a dedicated facility near Eldoret city in Uasin Gishu County, Kenya.

The Sirikwa Classic is the pinnacle of a thrilling cross-country season that kicked off last October with the Athletics Kenya Series and peaked at last weekend’s National Championships in Eldoret.

During today’s media launch for the Sirikwa Classic World Cross Country Gold Tour, Beatrice Chebet, a two-time world cross-country champion, 10,000m world record holder, and double Olympic champion, praised cross-country running for instilling character and discipline in athletes.

"Cross-country has built some of us through character and discipline. I look back and remember all the memories I have. Faith Kipyegon, Daniel Ebenyo, and I have risen through the ranks thanks to opportunities such as this. I can’t wait to test myself against the best once again," she said.

The second-fastest woman in the half marathon and 10km world record holder, Agnes Ng’etich, who was also present at the launch, confirmed her participation in the Sirikwa Classic World Cross Country Tour.

"I raced at the Agnes Tirop Memorial and, in two weeks, I want to prove to the world how hard I’ve been working," she said.

Athletics Kenya president Jackson Tuwei urged fans to turn up in large numbers, emphasising that this is a world-class event attracting both local and international competitors.

"Let’s come and cheer on our athletes. It’s a World Athletics event and a great opportunity to witness our best competing at home," he said.
