Defending Enterprise Cup champions Kabras Sugar will have the chance to retain their title after edging out KCB Rugby 25-21 in a thrilling semi-final clash at the ASK Kakamega Showground on Saturday. The victory sets up a final showdown with Menengai Oilers on April 19, 2025, at the RFUEA Grounds.

The match was a repeat of last year’s final, where Kabras Sugar defeated KCB 32-20. The Sugarmen, who remain unbeaten in the competition since April 2018, overcame an early setback as KCB took a 3-0 lead and later extended to 11-7. However, Kabras rallied to lead 21-11 at halftime and held on for the win despite KCB's strong second-half performance.

Kabras Sugar’s South African coach Carlos Katywa expressed frustration with his team’s display, stating, "I know we have won today, but I am a very disgruntled coach. Our standards dropped today, and I am not happy with my players. We almost allowed KCB back into the match. We led 22-11 at halftime and should have killed the game in the second half."

In the other semi-final, Menengai Oilers dominated Nondescripts 41-10 at the ASK Nakuru Showground. The Oilers led 22-0 at halftime after Nondies were reduced to 14 players following Daniel Okito’s sending-off. Despite Nondies’ improved second-half performance, Oilers outscored them 19-10 to cruise to victory.

Oilers’ coach Gibson Weru lauded his team’s effort, saying, "I am happy with the victory. Nondies have been a consistent side this season, but my boys stuck to the game plan despite injuries."

Looking ahead to the final, Weru added, "Our immediate focus is on the Kenya Cup play-off against KU Blak Blad. However, we will give our all against Kabras Sugar in the final, having come close in our recent 20-14 defeat."

The Enterprise Cup, Kenya’s oldest club competition dating back to 1930, will see Kabras Sugar chase a fifth title, while Oilers seek their first.
