Kabras Sugar and MKU Thika victorious at Dala 7s as tournament wraps up

The Dala 7s, the latest leg of the National Sevens Circuit, delivered thrilling action and standout performances as Kabras Sugar clinched the Division One title while MKU Thika celebrated a victory in Division Two. Held at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu on August 17th and 18th, the tournament showcased intense competition, with Kabras Sugar ultimately emerging as the champions after a dominant final performance. The event also saw notable performances from Menengai Oilers, KCB, and Kenya Harlequins, among others.

The Dala 7s, the third leg of the National Sevens Circuit, concluded with Kabras Sugar emerging as the Division One champions and MKU Thika claiming victory in the second division. The tournament took place at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu on August 17th and 18th.

Day one saw an impressive performance from Menengai Oilers in Pool A, who secured a spot in the quarter-finals with a series of commanding victories. The Oilers defeated Mwamba RFC 31-0, and followed up with wins over Strathmore (27-12) and Quins (21-12). Quins also advanced to the quarter-finals despite a defeat to the Oilers.

In Pool B, KCB and Nondies qualified for the knockout stages with strong performances. Kabras Sugar topped Pool C with three wins from three matches, overcoming Stallions 19-0, Kisumu 19-5, and narrowly beating MMUST 17-12. MMUST advanced to the quarter-finals with two victories and one loss. In Pool D, the Catholic Monks secured their place in the quarter-finals.

Kabras Sugar continued their dominance from the Christie 7s, clinching the Dala 7s title with a 24-5 victory over Menengai Oilers in the final. Menengai Oilers had previously defeated MMUST 29-14, while Kabras had beaten Kenya Harlequins 17-0 to reach the final. In the third-place playoff, Kenya Harlequins overcame MMUST 24-19.

KCB secured fifth place with a decisive 31-0 win over Nondies. The Challenge Trophy went to Strathmore Leos with a 12-7 victory over Stallions, while Homeboyz claimed 13th place with a 22-10 win over Zetech Oaks.
