All set for second edition of Nairobi Fight Night

By |

The second edition of the Nairobi Fight Night will take place on September 3, 2024, at the Alchemist Bar in Westlands, Nairobi. Organised by Aiwex Sports, Solid Rock Promotions, and the Kenya Professional Boxing Council (KPBC), this event aims to increase opportunities for local boxers and enhance the profile of boxing in Kenya.

The second edition of the Nairobi Fight Night is set for Tuesday 3rd  September 2024, at the Alchemist Bar in Westlands, Nairobi.

Organised by Aiwex Sports, Solid Rock Promotions, and the Kenya Professional Boxing Council (KPBC), the inaugural event took place on August 6, 2024, at the same venue. KPBC Chairman Reuben Ndolo hailed the initiative as one that would revolutionise Kenyan boxing by providing more opportunities for boxers to compete in well-paying bouts.

“There are over 300 professional boxers in Kenya, but most are wasting away because fights are few and far apart and, therefore, they are not in a position to earn a decent living while practising the sport. With an initiative like Nairobi Fight Night, this will definitely change that trajectory for the better,” Ndolo said.

The second edition will feature five bouts, including a contest between Samuel Njomo and Joshua Otisi. Dennis Okoth, alias Gorilla, returns after his successful professional debut in the first edition, where he defeated Ugandan boxer Jonathan Muhezi by technical knockout. He will face Denis Otieno.

Okoth will be hoping to build on the momentum he created during his debut. “I’m looking forward to showcasing my skills again and proving that I can compete at this level,” he stated.

Also making a return is Edwin Owino, who impressed on August 6 with a technical knockout victory over Kennedy Omondi. Owino’s opponent on September 3 will be Ibrahim Odhiambo.

The card also includes John Juma vs. John Ouma and Dennis Nzioka vs. Christopher Osicho.

The fighters will meet during the official weigh-in scheduled for Monday, September 2, 2024, at 10:30 am at The Alchemist Bar.
