"We wish to inform customers that the Nairobi Commuter Rail Services to Ruiru, Embakasi Village, Limuru, Lukenya and Syokimau will be suspended from December 21, 2023 till January 2, 2024," Kenya Railways said.
However, the agency said it will continue operating the city link train for Madaraka Express Passenger Service, which runs between Nairobi Central Railway Station and Nairobi Terminus, throughout the holiday season.
The Nanyuki Safari Train, Kisumu Safari Train and Suswa Leisure Train will also remain in operation.
Kenya Railways' new fares across its routes around the country are set to take effect on January 1, 2024.
It said the increase was necessitated by changes in the energy and petroleum sector where prices of fuel have significantly increased affecting the cost of its operations.
