Ould Tah becomes the ninth president of the regional lender that plays a vital role in financing development projects across the continent.

The endorsement came during the 44th Ordinary Summit of SADC leaders in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The sharp rise in the cost of loans is attributed to the shift from concessional financing to more expensive and short-term commercial debt.
