The Ministry of Environment has identified 145 facilities along the Nairobi River basin that are discharging industrial effluent into the river.

The residents lament that the sewer leakages have been there for a long time, causing ugly sights.

The goal of these changes, according to the CS, is to enhance waste management and ensure better disposal practices.

The CS cited the Athi Water and Sewerage Company and the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company as some of the largest polluters.

Pangani, located in Starehe Sub-County, has long struggled with garbage disposal, despite having a good road network.
