Schools were to reopen for the second term on April 29 but the government put it off in the wake of heavy rainfall and devastating floods which have so far killed over 257 people.
Machogu assured parents that transportation routes to schools are secure and learning materials lost to floods will be replaced.

The President announced the government has already disbursed Sh7.5 billion to schools countrywide.
"We want every eligible student to join Grade 7 in their familiar primary schools," Education CS Ezekiel Machogu declared.
Despite missing the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams last year, approximately 2,000 students will still have the opportunity to join secondary school this January.
The SMS code for the 2023 KCPE results failed to work resulting in uproar from learners and parents.
