Walking back the tax bill hasn’t solved Kenya’s problems, and on Aug. 19, Kenya’s new finance minister said that some of the proposed taxes would be introduced as the country looks to service its foreign debt.
Thika Road, which normally experiences heavy traffic as people get into the city, had few vehicles and pedestrians.
Their worry is heightened by the police response to the demonstrations, which has been termed excessive, with two people dead so far: 29-year-old Rex Masai and 21-year-old Evans Kiratu.
