A homage ceremony for Prince Rahim al-Hussaini Aga Khan V, the new spiritual leader of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, is scheduled for Tuesday in Lisbon.

Prince Rahim now assumes leadership of a community that has historically balanced religious guidance with global development efforts.

The Aga Khan, who died at the age of 88 in Lisbon, Portugal, was the 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims.

It said a designated successor will be announced "in coming days."
