The judge further clarified that Wanjigi would not be required to take a plea during his court appearance scheduled for September 26, 2024.

He has, however, denied any connection to being in possession of teargas canisters allegedly found in one of his escort vehicles.

Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi, after reviewing the case, granted Wanjigi release on bond and set a new court date for September 12, 2024. 

Lawyer Khaminwa, who spoke to journalists, protested the detention, calling it illegal and a breach of a court order barring such an action.

The two men were arrested with four items suspected to be hand grenades in Muthaiga, Nairobi last Thursday.

The two were arrested while in possession of a motor vehicle registration number KDC 883R, a black Toyota Prado.

The respondents will then file their responses before August 14. The case will be mentioned on August 16 to take a hearing date.
