The Mombasa-bound lanes between Salama and Sultan Hamud, 11 km from Salama towards Mombasa and 10 km from Sultan Hamud towards Nairobi, will be closed for nine days.
The contractor will close one lane on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23, 2024, from 9 am to 6 pm both days inclusive.
According to the Authority, the closure will last from June 15, 2024, to Sunday, June 23, 2024, at 6:00 a.m.
The partial closure will take place from Thursday, June 13 to June 16, 2024.
The falling rocks are due to the recent heavy downpour experienced in the area.
The disruption has left hundreds of travelers stranded, highlighting the critical need for immediate repairs to restore connectivity.
KeNHA cautioned that the river is nearing overflow, posing a danger to road users.
The auuthority said the sudden siltation occured at Suswa area, about 27 kilometres from Mai Mahiu town towards Narok.
The most affected areas were Tula and Arer, a few kilometres to Bangale town.
