Members of the Nairobi Business Community said their only option was to protect themselves, with Chairman Wilfred Kamau describing break-ins, thefts, and arson as despicable.
The DCI vowed to take action against those individuals, noting that while young people, the majority of them Gen Zs, exercised their democratic rights, criminals took advantage of the situation to loot businesses.
The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) condemned similar acts last Tuesday, which saw journalists arrested and attacked while covering the demonstrations.
Demonstrators said Muslims at the mosque, who had been preparing for prayers, gave them water to wash their faces after anti-riot police fired tear gas to disperse them.
