Residents have been reminded never to leave young children unattended near cooking appliances and electronics.

The residents helped to control the fire whose cause remains unknown.

Kingsley Odhiambo, a village elder, said the affected families are desperate for help as all their belongings were destroyed.

Residents blamed the Nairobi City County government for failing to reach the scene to put out the fire that burnt until morning.
