Transport CS Murkomen holds consultative meeting with Tana River leaders on road network
The leaders present at the meeting included County Governor Dhadho Godhana, Senator Danson Mungatana, County Women Representative Dika Abdullahi, Garsen MP Guyo Wario, Bura MP Kuno Yakub Adow, and Galole MP Hiribae Buya.
The Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Kipchumba Murkomen on Thursday, December 7, 2023, held a consultative meeting with Tana River County leaders at his Transcom House office as part of the ongoing County Leadership engagement programme.
Discussions centred on the strategies to expand Tana River's road network, aiming to bolster accessibility, catalyze tourism, and stimulate trade and investment.

The meeting that saw the presence of key figures including Roads PS Joseph Mbugua, alongside DGs Philemon Kandie (KeRRA), Silas Kinoti (KURA), and Kung'u Ndung'u (KeNHA) marks the 23rd devolved unit in the Ministries ongoing engagement series.
“The Ministry of Roads and Transport collaborates closely with elected national and county leaders to revitalise regions facing historical neglect,” Murkomen posted.
The dire flood situation in the area has disrupted transport and caused significant damage and loss of life.
“Our ministry remains committed to ensuring navigability along these routes while preparing to assess the full extent of the damage post-rains. Extensive repair plans are on the horizon to restore the roads to their functional state,” Murkomen added.
