Anthropic launches Claude Opus 4.5, its most advanced AI yet

Claude Opus 4.5 is designed to excel at what Anthropic calls “hybrid reasoning”, a combination of quick, real-time responses and deeper multi-step analysis.

Anthropic has announced the release of Claude Opus 4.5, the newest version of its flagship AI system, and the company is describing it as its “most intelligent and capable model yet”.

The launch marks the company’s latest step in the increasingly competitive race to build more powerful and practical artificial intelligence tools for business, research, and software development.

The model, which debuted hours ago, introduces major improvements to reasoning, coding, long-context understanding, and automated workplace tasks.

It also strengthens Anthropic’s push into enterprise AI at a moment when the market is rapidly expanding, and rivals are rolling out their own next-generation systems.

Claude Opus 4.5 is designed to excel at what Anthropic calls “hybrid reasoning”, a combination of quick, real-time responses and deeper multi-step analysis.

One of the model’s most prominent upgrades is its ability to handle exceptionally long conversations and documents, supported by an expanded context window that allows it to track and recall complex information over time.

Anthropic says this expansion also enables more reliable long-form “agentic” behaviour, AI systems that can work through multi-hour or multi-day tasks, break down projects, and generate multi-stage solutions with minimal human prompting.

The company is positioning Opus 4.5 as a major advancement for programmers.

Internal evaluations, Anthropic says, show improvements in debugging, refactoring, and multi-file software engineering, areas that earlier models struggled with at scale.

Developers will also gain access to a new Claude Code app for Windows and macOS, offering a desktop environment that pairs the model’s coding abilities with file navigation and project management tools.

Claude Opus 4.5 also introduces stronger capabilities for tasks like spreadsheet modelling, data summarisation, workflow planning, and slide preparation, areas where businesses have been increasingly looking to integrate AI.

New integrations, such as enhanced Chrome support and productivity-suite tools, are intended to bring the model directly into day-to-day workflows without requiring technical experience.

Opus 4.5 is available immediately across Anthropic’s own platform as well as major cloud providers.

The company is pairing the launch with more flexible pricing options, including discounted usage for cached prompts and large batch operations, features designed to make the system more affordable at enterprise scale.

The company says it is also increasing its safety investments. According to the announcement, Opus 4.5 underwent expanded testing to reduce misuse, limit harmful responses, and withstand adversarial prompting attempts, issues that have drawn scrutiny across the AI industry.
