President William Ruto has put on notice government agencies which have not complied with his directive to digitise their services.
Speaking at the First Anniversary of the e-Citizen Directorate event held at the KICC, Nairobi, the President lamented delays in digitisation, citing inefficiency and potential revenue loss.

"I told Kenyans that there would be no money to steal in my government, and I intend to keep that promise through digitisation," he said.
Ruto named the 34 agencies that are yet to adhere to his administration's digital transformation strategy. They include the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Kenya Ports Authority, Kenya Power, and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority.
Expressing his dissatisfaction, the President gave these agencies one week to digitise their services or face consequences.
"It's disappointing that despite clear directives, some agencies are still operating manually thereby compromising efficiency and denying Kenyans better service delivery. Those who cannot comply should step aside," he said.
Curb corruption
The digitisation initiative is part of the government's broader strategy to enhance transparency and curb corruption.
"Through digitisation, we eliminate loopholes for theft and mismanagement of public funds. These agencies must understand that they are accountable to the people of Kenya," Ruto said.
The President noted several areas where inefficiency has historically been rife. These include revenue leakage, delays in accessing critical services due to outdated processes, and corruption risks as analogue systems create opportunities for exploitation and graft, undermining public trust in government institutions.
Despite challenges, the President commended the e-Citizen Directorate for its progress in providing integrated online services, making government processes more accessible.
He pointed to the increased efficiency of operations at The Kenya Wildlife Service, citing how the revenue collection through e-Citizen has curbed the rampant corruption that was being perpetrated by tour operators.
"After making it clear to DG Kanga that the decision to digitise was not optional. We are now enjoying unprecedented degrees of success," Ruto said
As the clock ticks on the President's ultimatum, all eyes are on the flagged agencies to see if they will rise to the challenge or face a leadership shake-up.
