Kenya tennis team arrives in Bujumbura for East Africa Zonal Championship

The East Africa Zonal Championship is not just any competition for Tennis Kenya. It serves as a stepping stone towards the Youth Olympics, a dream that the players have been tirelessly working towards.
Kenya's national Tennis team has successfully made their way to Bujumbura, Burundi, as they prepare to compete in the highly anticipated East Africa Zonal Championship.
The team, led by coach Rosemary Owino and captain Okutoyi, is eager to showcase its skills and compete against talented players from the East African region.
The journey to Bujumbura holds immense significance for Tennis Kenya, as it marks a milestone on their road to the Youth Olympics. With high spirits and a readiness to give their best on the court, the team's determination and dedication will undoubtedly shine through in their performances.
"Team Kenya has what it takes to retain the title in the East Africa Zonal Championships scheduled for next week in Bujumbura, Burundi," stated Coach Rosemary Owino.

Coach Owino further emphasised the positive impact and the high spirit that double Wimbledon junior champion Angela Okutoyi has had on the team. Angela, who trains alongside her peers, has greatly inspired the upcoming players. James Kenani- Tennis Kenya's President, flagged off the players and declared the team ready for the Bujumbura event.
The Girls U14 category will feature Nancy Kawira and Bathsheba Ogamba, while the boys' team will showcase Jeff Okuku, Aum Chandarana, and Ayaan Quadros. Baraka Ominde will lead the boys' U-16 category alongside Ayush Bhandari and Brian Nyakundi.
