Faith Kipyegon makes history with fourth 1,500m world title at the 2025 Tokyo World Championships
Kipyegon's dominant run saw her finish 2.77 seconds clear of the field, extending her unbeaten streak in the 1,500m to 22 consecutive races over the past four years.
Faith Kipyegon cemented her place in athletics history on Tuesday after winning her fourth world title in the women's 1,500m at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old crossed the finish line in 3:52.15, comfortably ahead of compatriot Dorcus Ewoi, who took silver, while Australia's Jessica Hull claimed bronze in 3:55.16.

Kipyegon's dominant run saw her finish 2.77 seconds clear of the field, extending her unbeaten streak in the 1,500m to 22 consecutive races over the past four years.
"@Kipyegon_Faith claims her third world title in a row over 1500m after a run of 3:52.15, finishing just ahead of fellow Kenyan teammate Dorcus Ewoi and Australia's Jess Hull narrowly holds on to bronze with 3:55.16," said World Athletics in a statement on X.

With the victory, Kipyegon became the first woman to win four world titles in any distance-running event, adding to her three Olympic gold medals from Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.
She also holds the world 1,500m and 5,000m crowns from the 2023 World Championships in Budapest, along with the 1,500m world record, which she has broken three times between 2023 and 2025.
