Eastleigh’s BBS Mall readies to host traders, shoppers in souk exhibition

Business Bay Square (BBS) Mall is set to host its biggest souk exhibition of the year next month. The event, scheduled for October 5 and 6, is expected to attract thousands of shoppers as numerous businesses showcase their products.

Souk refers to ​an open-air market in Arabic.

Organisers have highlighted that the souk aims to promote small entrepreneurship while strengthening community ties.

The event will provide a unique platform for young entrepreneurs to present their products. These emerging business owners are expected to showcase a wide variety of goods, offering them the opportunity to interact with a broader customer base.

According to the event's planner, Hibo Abdirahman, the exhibition is designed not only to encourage shopping but also to foster connections among diverse groups of people.

"We are targeting the younger generation to come and get inspired. A lot of young entrepreneurs will be showcasing their products, and we want them to see the creativity and possibilities within their community," Hibo said during an interview with The Eastleigh Voice.

In addition to the main market, the exhibition will feature a section dedicated to children, which will include various entertainment activities such as animal displays, bouncing castles, and drawing sessions.

The organisers have assured that all activities will comply with halal guidelines, and no music will be played during the event.

Aside from small businesses, real estate companies will also have a significant presence at the exhibition. These companies will showcase new technologies and provide insights into their latest offerings. Visitors interested in the real estate sector will have the chance to learn about the developments and available opportunities.

Major banks will also participate in the exhibition, providing services and advice to vendors. The financial institutions will offer guidance on how vendors can collaborate with banks to grow their businesses. This collaboration is expected to benefit both sides, with banks providing financial solutions and advice while vendors gain a deeper understanding of available financial tools.

Healthcare providers will also be present at the event, offering advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Photography enthusiasts will also have something to look forward to, with photo sessions available at designated booths. Photographers will offer their services to visitors seeking professional photo services during the event.

The souk exhibition will run from 10 am until midnight on both days, allowing ample time for visitors to shop, explore, and interact with vendors. The extended hours will allow attendees to fully experience the wide range of products and services on display.

"It's a community event. We are bringing everyone together under one tent, offering them a space to buy, sell, learn, and engage. We are also providing a relaxed environment where people can enjoy a cup of coffee and shop while connecting with others," Hibo added.
