Cabinet Secretaries announce fresh state appointments across various ministries

CS Murkomen made six appointments to the Firearms Licensing Board. Jemimah Akinyi, Hussein Bakari, Edwin Wanjohi, Nancy Muthoni, Solomon Kibet, and Susan Mugambi will serve as board members for the next three years.

Cabinet Secretaries have announced a series of appointments across different ministries in a move aimed at strengthening key government institutions.

The appointments, which take effect from March 28, 2025, were outlined in a gazette notice published on Friday.

Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen made six appointments to the Firearms Licensing Board. Jemimah Akinyi, Hussein Bakari, Edwin Wanjohi, Nancy Muthoni, Solomon Kibet, and Susan Mugambi will serve as board members for the next three years.

In the Ministry of Health, CS Aden Duale appointed Roselyn Munga as a member of the Social Health Authority (SHA), replacing Zakayo Kariuki Gichuki, whose appointment was revoked.

Additionally, Duale named Harisson Wangoro to the Board of Kenya BioVax Institute Limited, with both appointments set to last for three years.

At the National Treasury, CS John Mbadi appointed Thomas Gichuhi and Ben Kajwang to the Board of Directors of the Policy Holders Compensation Fund. Their tenure is also set for three years.

Education CS Julius Ogamba made several appointments within his docket. He named Dickson Andala as the Chairperson of the selection panel for the recruitment of the Board of the National Commission for Science, Technology, and Innovation (NACOSTI).

Daniel Mugendi was also appointed as a member of the selection panel, which will be dissolved once the new board is in place.

Further, Ogamba appointed Fuad Abdalla to the Governing Council of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) for a three-year term.

Halima Saado Abdillahi was also named as a member of the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) Placement Board, with her term set for the same duration.

Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe appointed Tabitha Lagat to serve on the Tea Board of Kenya for three years, starting on March 28, 2025.

In the Labour Ministry, CS Alfred Mutua appointed Anne Owour as a trustee of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Board of Trustees.

She will hold the position for three years.
