The feature will allow users to create full videos, including synchronized audio, from simple text prompts.
Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, has announced plans to roll out a text-to-video generation feature for its chatbot Grok in October 2025.
The tool, integrated into Grok’s existing “Imagine” system, will initially be made available exclusively to premium subscribers under the super Grok tier.

The feature will allow users to create full videos, including synchronised audio, from simple text prompts.
According to xAI, the technology is powered by its in-house Aurora engine and marks a significant step forward in Grok’s evolution from a conversational assistant to a full-fledged creative AI platform.
This release follows the recent launch of Grok 4 in July, with xAI outlining a roadmap that includes a coding model in August, a multimodal agent in September, and text-to-video generation in October. The paid subscription is available at $30 (Sh 4,000) per month.
Musk confirmed the upcoming feature via a repost on X, urging users to download the standalone Grok app for early access.
“You’ll soon be able to generate videos on Grok. Download the standalone @Grok app and subscribe.”
A few weeks ago, xAI launched customisable AI companions for Grok AI. This companion feature debuted with three characters:
Valentine, a male companion inspired by characters like Edward Cullen from the movie Twilight and Christian Grey from Fifty Shades of Grey. Ani, a goth-style anime avatar, and Rudy, a red panda avatar.
These characters are currently available exclusively to super Grok subscribers and can be activated within the Grok app. The Super Grok subscribers also have access to more advanced Grok AI features, including deep search, real-time data access, and enhanced image generation.
This move positions Grok in direct competition with emerging tools like OpenAI’s Sora, Google’s Veo, and Runway’s Gen-3 Alpha, all racing to dominate the AI-generated video landscape.
