Murang’a Seal FC parts ways with head coach Yusuf Chipo

Chipo, a former Harambee Stars assistant coach, took charge of the club on April 2, 2025, following the resignation of John Njogu after a 3-0 defeat to Shabana FC.

FKF Premier League side Murang’a Seal has confirmed the departure of head coach Yusuf Chipo ahead of the new season.

Chipo, a former Harambee Stars assistant coach, took charge of the club on April 2, 2025, following the resignation of John Njogu after a 3-0 defeat to Shabana FC. At the time, Seal were battling relegation, but under Chipo’s leadership, they managed to finish 13th and secure their top-flight status.

In a statement, the club said, “Coach Yusuf Chipo was engaged by the club in April 2025 with the specific assignment of steadying the ship and ensuring that the team remained in the Premier League. In a spirit of mutual respect, both parties agreed not to pursue an extension of the contract. The club sincerely thanks Coach Chipo for his service and dedication during his time with us and wishes him every success in his future endeavours.”

Seal have already moved swiftly to restructure their bench. Don Otieno has been appointed to lead the team, while former Harambee Stars international Dennis “Dess” Odhiambo has been promoted to the technical bench.

“Moving forward, the team remains in safe hands under Coach Don Otieno, as we focus firmly on building strength, unity, and success in the coming season. At the same time, we are delighted to welcome former Kenyan international Dennis ‘Dess’ Odhiambo to the Technical Bench, bringing invaluable experience and leadership to our technical team,” the club noted.

Chipo’s exit continues a recent trend of coaching changes at Seal. Before Njogu’s brief tenure earlier this year, the club had also been under Juma Abdallah, a seasoned tactician who previously handled Thika United, KCB, and AFC Leopards.

Seal are set to begin the new campaign with a clash against Ulinzi Stars before facing APS Bomet, Bandari, Sofapaka, and Tusker FC in their opening fixtures.
