The recent heavy downpour in Nairobi has caused significant disruptions in Eastleigh area, particularly along the busy Yusuf Haji Road, which has been inundated with floodwaters. Traders operating along this stretch of the road voiced their frustration, highlighting the detrimental impact of the Nairobi County government's failure to maintain proper drainage systems, resulting in severe challenges for their businesses.
"We are continuously grappling with the aftermath of these heavy rains, and the lack of action from the county authorities is exacerbating our difficulties," expressed one of the affected traders, emphasising the detrimental effects of the flooding on their daily operations.

Adding to the traders' grievances, one of them pointed out the irony of being charged substantial license fees while not receiving adequate services from the Nairobi County government. "We are being burdened with hefty fees, yet the drainage issues persist, putting our businesses at risk," the trader complained.
Furthermore, the traders are calling on Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja to rein in the wayward Nairobi County officers, who they allege are only interested in soliciting bribes without providing any meaningful support or services to the community. "Governor Sakaja must take decisive action to address the corruption within the county administration," urged another trader, echoing the sentiments of many affected by the flooding.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department has issued a warning about the heavy rains affecting several regions, including Kisumu, Nairobi, Garissa, and the western part of the country, underscoring the urgency for swift and effective measures to mitigate the impact of the ongoing adverse weather conditions.
