A significant section of the Nuno-Madogashe road in North Eastern, which had previously suffered partial edge damage, has now been completely washed out, leading to a major transportation disruption in the area. The road, recently completed to connect Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera, was severely affected at Jilango, approximately 45 kilometers from the town of Madogashe and 102 kilometers from Modika.
Abdiwahab Osman, a probox operator who regularly commutes between Garissa and Madogashe, expressed his disappointment, emphasizing that the washed-out A13 was the primary lifeline for road users in the region. "Most of the roads in this area are not tarmacked and become impassable during heavy rains. The Nuno-Madogashe road was our only reliable hope," Mr. Osman stated.

He further explained that their confidence was rooted in the fact that the road had been constructed by an international company. Following the washout, many travelers heading to Madogashe and Wajir were compelled to turn back to Garissa, fearing being swept away by the flooded Jilango seasonal stream, which inundated parts of the road.
