Ghanaian footballer Dwamena dies during match in Albania

Dwamena was the top scorer in the Albanian league this season, having netted a total of nine goals.
Ghanaian footballer Raphael Dwamena, 28, has passed away following an incident at a sports facility during a match in the Albanian league.
Dwamena was playing for Egnatia in the Partizani match on Saturday night.
"Despite a swift response by specialized medical personnel to the incident, unfortunately, he has passed away," the Albanian Football League (AFL) said in a press statement.
Dwamena was the top scorer in the Albanian league this season, having netted a total of nine goals.
He has also scored twice for the Ghana national football team during his nine appearances.
The Albanian Football League postponed all other matches on Saturday and other fixtures that were scheduled for Sunday following the tragic incident.
"The AFL expresses heartfelt condolences to Dwamena's family, Egnatia FC, and the Albanian football community for the tragic loss of Dwamena," AFL said.
Dwamena was diagnosed with a heart condition in 2017, and a potential Premier League switch to Brighton and Hove Albion FC in a deal worth €11.4 million fell through because he failed his medical.
Several medical practitioners urged Dwamena to retire from football, including respected Ghanaian doctor Prince Pambo.
In November 2021, shortly after Dwamena collapsed in Austria, Dr Pambo advised the forward to think about ending his playing career.
In 2020, during his time at the Spanish club Levante, Dwamena received an implantable cardiovascular defibrillator (ICD), the same type used by Christian Eriksen of Manchester United after his on-field cardiac arrest in 2021.
This device is also used for other players dealing with heart conditions.
