Aside from her achievements on the mat, Salma takes on the role of captain and instructor, guiding younger players through the challenges of the sport.

Following her remarkable performance at the 11th edition of the Mombasa Open Tong Il Moo Do Championships, Kenyan athlete Salma Ali Abdallah is gearing up for the ultimate challenge – winning gold at the upcoming World Championships in the Philippines.

Abdallah secured gold in the senior women's category at the Mombasa Open which kicked off on Saturday, December 09, 2023, at the Light International venue

Salma's focus on the next goal is evident in her dedicated training, where she envisions success with every sleeping moment.

"For me, every day is a training day. I am more than ready, always ready. I wake up ready because I am always training. I am always aiming for the gold…I went to Chung Ju in South Korea (2019 World Championships) and won bronze, so now I want the gold," Abdallah shared as seen on Capital Sports.

She recognises the tough competition she will face but remains steadfast in her commitment to the sport, stressing the resilience required in the face of adversity.

"Win or lose, you are still a champion…as long as you haven’t quit, you are still a champion," she says.

With five gold medals in the Mombasa Open, Salma is a notable force in Tong Il Moo Do.

Aside from her achievements on the mat, Salma takes on the role of captain and instructor, guiding younger players through the challenges of the sport. She stresses the importance of maintaining a competitive spirit and minimising disappointment, encouraging her students to compete at a high standard.

In a call to action, Abdallah encourages more youth, especially ladies, to embrace the sport and enjoy its broader rewards beyond winning medals.
