Africa's fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala enjoys festive retreat at Maasai Mara

Ferdinand Omanyala, Africa's fastest man and Commonwealth Games 100m champion, is unwinding this Christmas with a three-day holiday retreat at the Maasai Mara National Reserve, courtesy of the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB).

Taking a break from the track, Omanyala is rejuvenating after a demanding training season, gearing up for the upcoming Olympic Games next year. KTB CEO John Chirchir extended his congratulations and appreciation to Omanyala for his remarkable achievements, elevating Kenya's status in sprinting on the global stage.

"Ferdinand Omanyala is among Kenyan athletes who have excelled in track and field, showcasing Kenya on the world map. From being Africa’s fastest man in the 100m race to securing Kenya's first gold medal at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, there’s much to celebrate. We hope his holiday serves as a chance to relax and plan for more success," expressed Chirchir.

Chirchir underlined the importance of a packed sporting calendar, viewing it as an opportunity to showcase Kenya to a global audience. Looking ahead to 2024, with the Paris Olympics scheduled for July, he expressed the board's determination to support athletes as they become ambassadors for Kenya, projecting the country's brand to millions worldwide.
