Beirut Marathon goes virtual to rally global aid for Lebanon’s crisis relief

By |

Launching this November, the Virtual Beirut Marathon will give participants from around the world the chance to support Lebanon's recovery through a unique global run, with all registration fees going towards relief initiatives.

The Beirut Marathon Association (BMA) is launching a global virtual run to rally international support for Lebanon, bringing together participants from across the world in a gesture of solidarity for the war-affected nation.

Under the banner “Together for Lebanon,” the Virtual Beirut Marathon will run from 8 November to 30 December, with all registration fees directly funding relief efforts in Lebanon. These funds will be allocated to critical services, including shelter, food, education, and healthcare for those impacted by the crisis.

“This is a call for unity during Lebanon’s darkest hours. As our country endures ongoing conflict, the need for collective support is immense. We’re inviting runners worldwide to join us—not just to stay active, but to foster hope,” BMA expressed on its website.

Participants will receive a bib, medal, race shirt, and goody bag with their $50 registration, which covers any chosen distance: 5km, 10km, 21km, or 42km. Registration is available at https://beirutmarathon.org/.

“Your participation extends beyond the racecourse - it’s a lifeline,” BMA shared on Instagram.

Initially slated for Sunday, 10 November, the physical 2024 Beirut Marathon has been postponed indefinitely due to the security concerns in Lebanon. The 2023 edition of the marathon took place on 12 November.
