BBS Mall among areas to be affected by power interruptions on Wednesday

The power shutdown will occur from 9 am to 5 pm and will impact other areas in Eastleigh such as Starehe Boys Centre, Pumwani Boys, Ismariot Restaurant and adjacent customers.
Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power outage affecting several areas, including the Business Bay Square (BBS) Mall in the Eastleigh area, Nairobi, on Wednesday, July 2, 2024.
The power shutdown will occur from 9 am to 5 pm and will impact other areas in Eastleigh such as Starehe Boys Centre, Pumwani Boys, Ismariot Restaurant and adjacent customers.

"The following areas will be off on planned maintenance tomorrow, July 3, 2024," Kenya Power said in a notice.
Additionally, parts of Kisumu County, including Wildor, Kalusi, Bungu, Rweya, Masawa, Hera, Kasese, Obumba, Achuodho, Chiga, Aloo Gumbi, Mayienya, Nyamonge and surrounding areas, will experience a power outage from 9 am to 3 am.
In Nyeri County, power will be out from 8 am to 5 pm in areas such as Gikumbo market, Gaikuyu market, Karura market, Karura C/Fact, Karura Primary School, Engineer Maina, Gathumbi Village, parts of Unjiru Village, Ngari Junior Village, Ragati Primary School, Ragati Secondary School, Iharu Village, Kiandara Village, Gathambo TBC, Gaturumo-Ini TBC, Kiamigwi Village, Shauri Moyo, Kihuro Village, Magutu Secondary School, Gitunduti Market, and adjacent customers.
Kenya Power noted that further power interruptions will occur from 8 am to 5 pm in Kilimara, Gwa Kigera, Gwa Ichang'i, Safaricom Booster, Kirimara Farm, Kirimara Factory, parts of Ndurutu, and surrounding areas.
Other affected regions are in Tharaka Nithi County including Chuka KCB, Chuka Girls, Ushirika Plaza, Nchamba Cyber, Kimbumbu Market, California, Mukungungu, Tungu C/Fact, Kiangondu Market, Kariuko TBC, and nearby customers.
The outages come as the lighting company continues its exercise of upgrading token meters, targeting 7.4 million prepaid meters.
All Kenyans using the prepaid meter token have until August 31, 2024, to do so or risk their meters being shut down.
Kenya Power Managing Director Joseph Siror warned that all prepaid meters that have not been updated by the deadline will stop accepting tokens after that date.
To update the meters, customers receive two codes from Kenya Power when they purchase tokens. They are required to key the codes into their meter following the steps indicated in the SMS before loading the new token.
Customers must ensure all previously purchased tokens are loaded into their meters before entering the reset and update codes.
Siror said in some cases, the company will send the codes directly to customers who haven’t purchased tokens to notify them to update their meters.
"The process is simple and free and will not impact existing tokens already loaded into the meter," he said.
