Sudan recalls ambassador to Kenya amid RSF controversy

This marks the second diplomatic withdrawal in just over a year, following the January 2024 recall after President William Ruto hosted RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo in Nairobi.

Sudan has once again recalled its ambassador Kamal Jubbara from Nairobi, days after Kenya hosted sanctioned Rapid Support Forces (RSF) leaders for discussions on forming a 'parallel government', Sudanese diplomatic sources have confirmed.

This marks the second diplomatic withdrawal in just over a year, following the January 2024 recall after President William Ruto hosted RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo in Nairobi.

"Sudan recalls its ambassador in Nairobi for consultations," a Sudanese diplomatic source told this outlet.

The move follows a sharp rebuke from the military-led government in Port Sudan, which accused President Ruto of breaking high-level assurances that Kenya would not facilitate RSF political activities.

The latest fallout highlights the growing strain between Khartoum and Nairobi as diplomatic tensions escalate.
