United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirant for the upcoming Malava by-election, Dr Enock Andanje, has died after collapsing during a widows’ empowerment forum in Malava on Friday.

Andanje was attending a widows’ empowerment forum in Malava that was also graced by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi when he suddenly collapsed.

Efforts to resuscitate him at the venue failed, and he was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary confirmed the tragic news, expressing his shock and condolences to the family and residents of Malava.

The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, but local authorities said a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish what happened.

Dr Andanje, remembered fondly as the immediate former Principal of Bungoma High School, took early retirement earlier this year to vie for the Malava parliamentary seat.

The seat fell vacant following the death of MP Malulu Injendi, triggering a by-election scheduled for November 27, 2025.

His decision to enter politics was met with enthusiasm by many in the constituency, and he was among 30 aspirants seeking to succeed the late Injendi in the November 27, 2025, poll.
