ODM directs members to verify details ahead of by-elections

ODM stressed that membership verification is already underway and urged members in these areas to check and confirm their status ahead of the by-elections.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has called on its members in select regions to verify their membership ahead of the upcoming by-elections announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The party released a statement on Tuesday, listing constituencies and wards where members must confirm their details to take part in the electoral process.

The constituencies specified are Baringo, Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbeere North, and Ugunja. Affected wards include Angata Nanyokie, Chemundu/Kapng’etuny, Chewani, Fafi, Kariobangi North, Kisa East, Metkei, Mumbuni North, Kabuchai/Chwele, Narok Town, Purko, Tembelio, Nyansiongo, Nyamaiya, Ekerenyo, Lake Zone, and Nanaam.

ODM stressed that membership verification is already underway and urged members in these areas to check and confirm their status ahead of the by-elections.

To verify their membership, members can dial 483036# or visit the party’s official membership website.

The party noted that its membership registration portal has been temporarily disabled until after the by-elections, meaning no new members will be accepted during this period.

ODM also emphasised that members will not be allowed to change registration centres while the verification exercise is ongoing.

“Members in those areas are further informed that the membership registration portal has been disabled, hence no new registration until after the completion of the by-elections,” the party stated.

ODM said the measures aim to ensure that only verified members participate, streamlining the process and maintaining fairness.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability in managing membership ahead of crucial electoral exercises.

Political observers note that various parties are expected to hold their primaries before November 27, when the IEBC will conduct by-elections to fill vacant seats in the affected constituencies.
