The Public Service Commission (PSC) has released the names of six candidates shortlisted for the position of Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Kenya, a crucial role in one of Kenya's key financial institutions.

Among the candidates include Charles Ringera, the Chief Executive Officer and Board Secretary at the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).

This vacancy was publicised on March 30, 2023, as the PSC invited applications from qualified professionals eager to fill the position.

The other shortlisted candidates include Dulacha Galgallo Barako from Marsabit, Gerald Nyaoma Arita from Kisii, Jane Wangui Kirangai from Nyeri, Dr. Florence Koki Kinyanzui from Machakos, and Dr. Habil Okunda Olaka from Kakamega.

The commission on Thursday said interviews for the shortlisted candidates are set to take place on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Public Service Commission House located on Harambee Avenue in Nairobi.

Each candidate has been assigned a specific time slot for their interview, which will run from 9.30 am to 2.00 pm.

Candidates are required to arrive 15 minutes before their allotted interview times and must present several important documents.

These include their National Identity Card, academic and professional certificates, testimonials, and valid clearances from essential regulatory and oversight bodies, such as the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

The recruitment for the Deputy Governor position followed the end of the previous holder's term.

The PSC is looking for experienced individuals with solid backgrounds in finance, economics, banking, or related fields to ensure effective leadership in this vital role.

The CBK is responsible for formulating and implementing monetary policy, regulating banks and other financial institutions, issuing currency, and managing the country's foreign exchange reserves.
