Eastleigh, Westlands and Kilimani among 16 Nairobi estates to face two-day water disruption

The shutdown will begin on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 6:00 am and end on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 8:00 am.

At least 16 estates across Nairobi will experience a two–day water supply disruption from Friday morning as the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) undertakes pipeline interconnection works.

In a statement on Thursday, the company said the interruption, done in partnership with the Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA), will allow the interconnection of the Kigoro–Gigiri–Kabete water pipeline at the Gigiri Pumping Station and Reservoirs.

The shutdown will begin on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 6:00 am and end on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 8:00 am.

According to NCWSC, areas including Westlands and Lavington, such as Riverside, Chalbi Drive, Convent Drive, Gitanga Road, Kunde Road, Mbaazi, Masanduku, Leloghi Gardens, Ole Ndume Road, King’ara Road and Riara Road, will be affected.

In Kileleshwa, estates along Kandara Road, Gichugu Road, Mazeras Road, Mbooni Road, Othaya Road, Kaputei, Laikipia Road, Githunguri, as well as DoD, St. George’s School and Tembere Road, will also go without water.

The University of Nairobi and surrounding areas along Mamlaka Line and Valley Road are expected to be hit, alongside sections of Kilimani, including Argwings Kodhek Road from Chaka Road to Hurlingham, Hurlingham Shopping Centre, Mtito Andei Road, Kindaruma Road, Rose Avenue, Lower George Padmore Road, Daystar University, Denis Pritt Road and Coptic Hospital.

In Kawangware and Dagoretti, residents of Lower Gitanga Road, Sunset Estate, Sohill City Estates, Kagira, Kagondo, Muhuri Road, Upper Kabiria, Mithonge, Kamwanya, Kahuho Road, Ngina Road, Kikuyu Road, Waithaka, Ndwaru Road, Gachui, Kirigo, Dagoretti Market and Mariguini will be affected. Uthiru and Muthua estates, including Muchugia Road, Mutego, Mutuini and Gatina, are also listed among the areas facing disruption.

Along Ngong Road and Upper Hill, the shutdown will hit Bishop Magua, Kabarnet Road, Joseph Kangethe Road, Muchai Drive, Jamhuri Estate, Upper Hill, Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) offices, Highview 1 and 2, and Kenyatta Market. Parts of Kibera and Highrise, including Makina, Karanja Road, Fort Jesus, Olympic, Kibera Kianda, Gatwekera, Ayany, Mwembeni, Makongeni, Kwa DC, Lindi, KEMRI Flats on Mbagathi Way and Highrise Estate, will also be affected.

Other areas to experience the water disruption are Kinoo and Kang’ethe, particularly Kang’ethe Greens; Langata, including Southlands Estate, Park 1, Ngei 2 Extension, Madaraka, Hima Gardens, Siwaka, Funguo Estate, Akila 2, Rangers Court, Leeban B and Nairobi West Shopping Centre; and Karen, where Bogani East Road, Muiri Lane, Forest Edge, Mukinduri Road, Muricho Road, Mukoma Road, Kisembe East, Magadi Road, Ndorobo Road, Kikeni Road, Ndovu Road, Kifaru Road, Tandara Road, Mutamaiyo, Mundenderu Road, Kikeni Close, Korongo Road and Swara Lodge will be affected.

In the CBD and along Mombasa Road, estates and installations such as South B and C, Mater Hospital, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), Athi River Export Processing Zone (EPZA), Coca-Cola, Mukuru, Imara Daima, North Airport Road, Embakasi Village, and Tassia Estate will be impacted.

Disruptions will also extend to Ngara and Gigiri, covering Ngara, Forest Road, Desai Road, Kipande Road, Limuru Road, Murang’a Road, Park Road, Whispers Avenue, Village Market, UNEP and the US Embassy. The entire Industrial Area will also be cut off, while in Eastleigh and its environs, residents of Maringo, Buruburu Phase 3 and 4, Gikomba, Pumwani, Majengo and Shauri Moyo will be affected.

In Mathare and neighbouring areas, the outage will cover Mathare North, GSU, Rafiki, Utalii College, KPLC Training School, Traffic Headquarters, Mathari Hospital, Malango Kubwa, Juja Road, Huruma, Ngei I and II, Kosovo, parts of Ngumba Estate, Old Muthaiga Road, Thome, Survey, Safari Park Hotel, Kenya Breweries and sections of Baba Dogo light industries

NCWSC has urged residents in all the listed estates to prepare adequately.

“We kindly urge our customers to store sufficient water and use it sparingly during this period,” the company said.

It also assured residents that the normal supply would be restored as quickly as possible once the works are completed.

“We are committed to restoring normal supply as quickly as possible and regret any inconvenience caused,” the statement added.
