Murkomen restructures Nairobi administration, appoints three County Commissioners to head new sub-regional units
The three sub-regions meant to coordinate service delivery are Nairobi North (Roysambu, Kasarani, Kamukunji, Mathare and Ruaraka), Nairobi East (Embakasi, Embakasi West, Embakasi North, Embakasi South, Central Njiru and Makadara), as well as Nairobi West (Lang'ata, Kibra, Dagoretti North, Dagoretti South and Westlands).
Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has effected new changes at the National Government Administration (NGAO) that have seen three County Commissioners promoted to serve in three newly created sub-regions within Nairobi.
The three sub-regions meant to coordinate service delivery were gazetted on Wednesday as: Nairobi North (Roysambu, Kasarani, Kamukunji, Mathare and Ruaraka), Nairobi East (Embakasi, Embakasi West, Embakasi North, Embakasi South, Central Njiru and Makadara), as well as Nairobi West (Lang'ata, Kibra, Dagoretti North, Dagoretti South and Westlands).

In the notice, Murkomen said they shall be managed by officers in the rank of a County Commissioner.
Rose Wanjiru Chege, Patrick Simiyu Werre and Simon Odhiambo Osumba, all of whom have been serving in the rank of County Commissioner, have been promoted and appointed to administer the three sub-regions.
The changes that take effect immediately are aimed at enhancing service delivery in the city, necessitated by the high population of the capital city, now estimated at more than five million.
"During the recently concluded Jukwaa La Usalama public forums, we promised to restructure and reinvigorate the National Administration to better serve the people of Kenya. We are committed to bringing services closer to wananchi through deliberate decentralisation and efficiency enhancement," added the CS.
They will be reporting to the Regional Commissioner, Nairobi region.
The move is also part of ongoing efforts to streamline operations within the National Government Administration has also seen the following officers promoted to the rank of County Commissioner and posted as follows: Joseph Mwangi Wamuti (Tana River), Linda Adhiambo Okola (Taita Taveta), David Ntawuasa Saruni (West Pokot ), Michael K. Yator (Kajiado), Jeremiah Mwai Gicheru (Kericho) and Peter Mwangi Maina (Vihiga ).
"Other County Commissioners have been transferred to new stations taking into consideration their strengths and experiences as we address the various security and service delivery concerns raised by wananchi during Jukwaa La Usalama public forums," he added.
