Celebrating Somali culture: Eid festival, business expo kick off in Nairobi

The expo welcomed attendees from various backgrounds, highlighting Kenya's rich cultural tapestry.

The National Museum of Kenya came alive today as it played host to the first day of the Eid festival and business expo.

The event drew in hundreds eager to feel and engage in the vibrant Somali culture thriving in Kenya.

Attendees were treated to a multiple experiences, from sampling diverse cuisine to exploring the myriad products showcased by participating businesses.

Among the attendees were Munira Abdi and her kids, who came to indulge in the different cuisine offered by the stalls. She also wanted a place where her children could play and spend time.

"I came to taste what's offered here. I also wanted my kids to have fun."

The event aims to promote understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures, fostering societal cohesion and prosperity, while celebrating Somali heritage.

Alan Thuku, one of the attendees, shared his motivation for attending the event, saying he wanted to experience the Somali culture.

He also wanted to meet new people who were participating in the event.

"I was here to experience the Somali culture. I was attracted by the opportunity to meet different people at the place," he said.

The festivities are set to continue on Sunday, promising another day of cultural exploration and community engagement.

With an array of activities and offerings, the Eid festival and business expo serve as a testament to the importance of celebrating and embracing diversity in Kenya's multi-cultural experience.
