KeNHA announces partial closure of Mombasa Road at Imaara mall

The authority has advised motorists to use the two through lanes and approach the affected sections with caution.

Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) on Friday announced a partial closure of the Mombasa (A8) Road near Imaara mall.

This is to allow for the installation of culverts and reinstatement works at these sections.

The closure will affect the Nairobi-bound lanes near Imaara Mall and will take effect on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 8 pm and will last until Monday, June 3, 2024, at 6 am, according to KeNHA Director General Kung'u Ndung'u.

Following this, there will be another closure on the Mombasa-bound lanes from Friday, June 7, 2024, at 8 pm to Monday, June 10, 2024, at 6 am.

"The authority urges all motorists to exercise caution while navigating the affected areas," Ndung'u stated.

The authority has advised motorists to use the two through lanes and approach the affected sections with caution. They have also been urged to follow the traffic signs and guidance as directed by the traffic police and marshals.

"The Authority remains committed to ensuring seamless connectivity to facilitate safe passage for economic prosperity," KeNHA stated.

Last year in September, the road agency said they were on course to expand the construction of the Imaara Outfall drain.

The canal stretches for 3.5 kilometres long to the Ngong River and upon completion will divert flood waters that have haunted the estate for decades.

The outfall runs from A8 through, Imaara Mall, Imara estate, Embakasi Girls, Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Kware and terminates at Ngong River (Outering Road).
