"This is due to scheduled road works for construction of Pedestrian Underpass at the section," says the notice by KeNHA.
The work will start on Thursday, November 28, 2024, and is expected to end on Friday, January 17, 2025.
Motorists are advised to follow the proposed traffic management plan, adhere to project road signs, and cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals stationed on site.
In addition, KeNHA has urged all road users to be cautious during this period to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety for everyone.
Earlier in the month, the authority announced the temporary closure of a section of Mombasa Road to facilitate crucial maintenance work.
The road agency indicated that the closure will affect the stretch between General Motors and the Nairobi National Park East Gate Road.
This decision aimed to allow for road pavement rehabilitation to enhance the overall serviceability of the road.
Traffic disruptions were set to commence on Saturday, November 2, 2024, and ended on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Motorists were urged to seek alternative routes. KeNHA outlined specific detours for both light and heavy vehicles to minimise inconvenience during this period.
The closure followed a similar disruption in August 2024 when traffic was rerouted for roadworks at the Gitaru interchange.
The roadworks, which are part of KeNHA's larger efforts to upgrade the interchange, are aimed at reducing congestion and improving road safety in the area.
The upgrade is expected to enhance traffic flow, reduce travel times, and provide better access to critical intersections once completed.
KeNHA noted that these improvements will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall efficiency and safety of the road network for all motorists.
