The shocking murder in the Ayani area on November 18, 2024 has left the community in grief and fear.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) based in Kibra have apprehended Brian Otieno Maurice, the main suspect behind the brutal murder of Kirinyaga University student Sospeter Osunga, popularly known as 'Akoko the Billionaire'.

The shocking murder in the Ayani area on November 18, 2024 has left the community in grief and fear.

Osunga, a prominent figure in the area, met his untimely death after being ambushed by a group of assailants.

" Investigations have revealed that on the fateful day, Osunga was fatally attacked by a gang of hoodlums in the Ayani area," the DCI said in a statement.

He sustained fatal injuries to his back, believed to have been inflicted by a sharp weapon.

The investigation into the murder paid off when detectives arrested three suspects who provided important information, leading to the identification of Maurice as the main suspect.

The incident shocked locals who knew Osunga as a successful and ambitious individual.

Akoko lived a flashy lifestyle, often flaunting his recreational endeavours like nights out and road trips on social media.

The arrest is seen as a significant step in addressing the growing concerns over crime in the Kibra region.

The DCI has urged the public to maintain peace and avoid actions that may lead to unnecessary violence or loss of life, emphasising the need for harmony in neighbourhoods.

Akoko's death came barely two months after another Kirinyaga University student was found dead in a Mombasa apartment.
