Parents have been urged to prioritise Islamic education for their children by ensuring their attendance in Islamic classes.

Mombasa Likoni MP Mishi Mboko has issued a strong call to parents, urging them to prioritise Islamic education for their children by ensuring their attendance in Islamic classes.

Speaking passionately about the importance of instilling a strong foundation in Islamic teachings and values, especially among young girls, MP Mboko emphasised the pivotal role women play in shaping the spiritual and moral development of future generations.

"Parents must recognise the profound impact of Quranic studies and religious instruction on the lives of their children. Our lives are rooted in the Quran," said MP Mboko.

She urged parents not only to focus on memorization but also to prioritise understanding the meaning behind the verses, thereby fostering a deeper connection to their faith.

In her address, MP Mboko addressed the prevalent trend of prioritising academic studies and tuition over religious education, urging mothers to strike a balance and make time for their children to learn Islamic teachings alongside their regular commitments.

“Let us not overlook the importance of Islamic education in our children's lives. We prioritise school and tuition, but let us find time for our children to study the Quran and its meaning. Mothers, we must make time. Not every day should a child go to tuition on Saturdays and Sundays without the chance to attend madrassa (Islamic classes). If we can, let us bring teachers home to educate our children about religion and the Quran,” she said.

Drawing attention to the remarkable achievements of girls who have memorised extensive portions of the Quran, MP Mboko emphasised the potential for all children to excel academically and spiritually with proper support and guidance.

She called upon Muslim families to unite in their efforts to prioritise Islamic education, emphasising that such dedication and commitment are vital for the preservation and transmission of Islamic knowledge and traditions across generations.
