Governor Mwadime appeals for hardship allowances for Taita Taveta teachers

The county government pledged to collaborate with the two ministries of Land and Education to resolve the issue of land ownership title deeds affecting certain schools.
The Taita Taveta County Government has appealed to the Ministry of Education to prioritise the payment of hardship allowances to all teachers within the county due to their challenging work conditions.
Governor Andrew Mwadime stressed the need to recognise the tough settings in which teachers work and urged collaboration to address the issue.

He stressed the importance of supporting educators working in challenging areas and ensuring conducive learning environments for students.
“Taita Taveta County is one of the six counties receiving minimal funding from the national government. Despite this challenge, we remain committed to advancing education and creating a conducive environment for our students,” Gavana Mwadime stated.
Gavana Mwadime noted that despite the county not getting as much funding as desired, his government is working hard to enhance preschools and vocational training centres to serve the students better.
“I take this opportunity to congratulate all teachers of Taita Taveta for their efforts in improving education, fostering a better community with good morals, and promising to address the challenges they have raised through their leaders,” he said.
Additionally, he has called upon the Ministries of Land and Education to tackle the issue of schools lacking land ownership title deeds.
