CS Joho supported the governor's call, stressing the importance of fairness in the mining sector.

Taita Taveta governor Andrew Mwadime has urged the national government's mining technical team to work closely with the county team to prevent challenges related to the double allocation and overlapping of mining areas.

Mwadime made the remarks on Friday during a visit by the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Ali Joho, who was in Kishushe for a familiarisation tour.

Governor Mwadime emphasised, "It is crucial that the national and county teams collaborate effectively to avoid issues like double allocation and overlapping of mining areas. Such challenges can hinder progress and create confusion among miners."

CS Joho supported the governor's call, stressing the importance of fairness in the mining sector.

"We need to ensure a level playing field for all miners, whether they are artisanal, small-scale, or large-scale operators," Joho said.

Joho also urged local residents to foster a welcoming environment for investors. He addressed concerns about the steel mill project, calling on all parties involved to resolve any issues to ensure the project proceeds smoothly.

"This steel mill project is valuable for our county and its economy. It has the potential to bring significant benefits to our residents," Joho added.

Deputy Governor Christine Kilalo highlighted the importance of collective development efforts.

"For our country to transform, we must all embrace development initiatives. This is essential for the future prosperity of our community," Kilalo stated.

Local MPs Danson Mwashako, Khamis Chome, Lydia Haika, John Bwire, and Senator Jones Mwaruma also expressed their support for the development of the steel factory. They agreed that the project would significantly boost the county's economy.

The support from both local and national leaders underscores a shared commitment to advancing economic growth and ensuring the sustainable development of the county's resources.
